SGR Shuttle Mombasa to Nyali: direct transfer from Miritini terminus

Just 12 km. About 20 minutes. The shortest transfer we run.

SGR Shuttle Mombasa connects Miritini terminus to Nyali, the suburb just north of Mombasa Island that's home to most of the city's better hotels and a long stretch of decent beach. Short trip or not, your driver's still assigned ahead of time, still tracks your train, still waits with a sign if you're running late.

A lot of business travellers and short-stay visitors land here. Nyali's close enough to feel like Mombasa, but far enough to have its own beach and a slower pace once you're off the main road.

Miritini SGR to Nyali: route overview

Nyali sits just across the Nyali Bridge from Mombasa Island, north of the city centre. From Miritini, the drive heads through town and over the bridge, about 12 km in total. Twenty minutes on a clear day. Traffic around the bridge and the Nyali roundabout can slow things down a bit during rush hour, but it rarely adds more than ten or fifteen minutes either way.

About Nyali

Nyali is where a lot of Mombasa's international hotel chains ended up, mostly because the beach here is wide and the area's well established compared to some of the newer resort zones further north. It's not a remote getaway. It's close to the city, close to the airport, and close to good restaurants without feeling like you're staying in the middle of town.

The Nyali beach itself is decent for swimming, though like most of this part of the coast it's tidal, so the best swimming windows shift through the day. Nyali Golf and Country Club sits nearby if that's your thing, and there's a reasonable shopping centre, City Mall, which covers most practical needs without a long drive.

Hotels here range from large international names like Voyager Beach Resort and Reef Hotel to smaller boutique places tucked into the residential streets back from the beach road.

Because it's so close to Mombasa proper, Nyali doesn't really have a quiet season. Business travel keeps it busy year round, alongside the regular tourist flow. Whichever reason brings you here, the transfer from Miritini is short enough that it barely changes your day. Book your seat now →

Why pre-book your Nyali transfer from Miritini?

It's short, but that doesn't mean it's not worth locking in ahead of time.

Business travellers need certainty

If you're arriving for a meeting or an early start the next day, a confirmed driver waiting for your specific train removes one more variable from the trip.

Even short trips get overcharged

An unmetered taxi can still quote oddly for a 12 km ride if there's no fixed price set beforehand. Lock yours in before you board.

Late arrivals are common

Some SGR trains land in Miritini in the evening. A pre-arranged driver means you're not figuring out transport in the dark at an unfamiliar terminus.
