A note on smoking
Smoking is not allowed anywhere in Kenya Railways premises or on any passenger train. There are designated smoking areas at the station if you need them. This applies to cigarettes, vapes and electronic cigarettes.

Keep your printed ticket and ID together: Put both in the same pocket or pouch before you leave the vehicle. Rifling through bags at each checkpoint while people queue behind you is stressful for everyone.
Do not pack anything from the prohibited list: This sounds obvious but every day someone gets held up at the X-ray because they packed something they should not have. Common ones are aerosol cans over 500ml, alcohol bought before reaching the terminus, and lighter fluid. Check the list before you pack.
Sunscreen and toiletries: These are fine to bring but keep individual containers under 500ml. Decant into smaller bottles if needed.
